David Hamilton has been a practicing attorney for over 38 years with the law firm of Rowe & Hamilton. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is also a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis, where he received various academic and scholarship awards, including being named the Outstanding Second Year Law Student and was awarded a Barrister Scholarship. He has been a partner of Rowe & Hamilton since its inception in 1984 and is engaged in civil litigation practice with a focus on representing individuals and families who have been injured by the negligent conduct of others. His vast experience includes wrongful death claims, trucking and automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents and dog bite claims.
Mr. Hamilton was the first African-American appointed to serve as Commissioner in Marion County Superior Court, Probate Division, where he served for three (3) years. He served as Judge pro tem in Marion County Superior Court Criminal Division and as a Hearing Officer for the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Committee. He also served as a court attorney for the Marion County Superior Court Probate Division. He is a lifetime member of the Marion County Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is listed in Martindale-Hubbell as a distinguished attorney with a high peer rating achievement. He received a twenty-five (25) year distinguished practice award from the Indiana State Bar Association. He is a past board member of the Marion County Bar Association and current member of the Supreme Court of Indiana Committee on Character and Fitness. He serves as a legal counsel on the Board of Directors for the Super Shootout, Inc. Eric Gordon City-County Allstar Game.
Mr. Hamilton is very active in giving back to his community. He is a former Precinct Chairman for Pike Township and served as a member of the Federal Judicial Nominating Committee that interviewed candidates for their judicial appointments. In 2012, he received recognition for his excellence and outstanding legal service to the Indianapolis community by the Circle City Chapter of the Links, Inc. He has served as an AAU Coach to several elite travel AAU teams and his won two national championships and numerous state and various other tournament championships.
He is married to Linda Hamilton and they have three children- David, Dana and Jarrett. His son, David, is a graduate of Harvard Law School. His daughter, Dana, is a graduate of Spellman College and his son, Jarrett, is a graduate of University of Indianapolis.
