Drunk Driving Crash in South Indiana Claims Life of 3

Police in South Indiana responded to a crash on Interstate-265 Saturday night. At about 9:14 pm, on March 13, the police received several calls that there was a white Kia SUV traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate-65.

The police went to locate the vehicle. Before they could reach them, the car had turned off of I-65 and onto Interstate-265. The driver was still in the wrong lanes. She was driving West in the Eastbound lanes of the highway. The police weren’t able to stop the vehicle before it crashed into another vehicle in the Eastbound lanes.

The white KIA drove in the wrong direction, crashing head-on into a Chevy Cavalier. The driver of the KIA, Taylor Barefoot is 31-years old and is from Louisville, Kentucky. She was taken to the hospital and is still there. She was described as having sustained serious injuries.

The people in the Cavalier did not fare so well. The driver, Taylor Cole was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 21-years old and was from Marengo, Indiana. Her passenger, 22-year old Leah Onstott was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Sadly, Cole had two of her kids in the backseat of the car at the time of the crash. Both children were taken to the Norton Children’s Hospital. Her son died later that day. Her other child survived but is still hospitalized. There is no update on his condition.

Barefoot, the driver of the Kia SUV is said to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck. The criminal investigation is still ongoing.
