Fiery Crash in Boone County Leaves 2 Dead and 14 Injured

Whenever we hear about an accident involving a tractor trailer, we worry. These types of crashes tend to cause very serious injuries. If it involves a passenger vehicle, it may even result in fatalities. Sadly, this was the case in Boone County this weekend.

A trucker driving a semi-trailer was traveling Northbound on Interstate-65 and I-865. He was near the Whitestown exit when the semi got into an accident. It came to stop along the right shoulder where the cab of the truck caught fire.

There was a total of 9 vehicles involved in the crash. Police and rescue crews from two towns – Whitestown and Zionsville – were needed to come assist. There was a total of 14 people injured. Some were taken to local hospitals. Two of the people involved in the crash died and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the victims have not yet been released. Since the accident just happened this morning, they’re likely waiting until the victims’ next of kin have been notified. The highway was shut down in both directions from 11 am until about 3:30 pm.

The crash, that happened at 11 am, involved at least 9 vehicles, including the semi-trailer. The name of the driver of the truck has not been released nor has his medical condition. All we know right now is that 14 were injured and 2 were killed.

Typically, in cases like this, the victims’ families have potential legal claims against the person who caused the accident. At this point, it appears that this was the person driving the semi-trailer though this has not yet been confirmed.
