Police responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash this morning in Indianapolis. They heard multiple gunshots and then a large crash so they weren’t sure what they would be walking into.
When they got the intersection of Lafayette Road and 30th Street, they found multiple cars involved in the crash. They also found a female gunshot victim laying on the ground. There were a total of 4 cars involved in the accident.
A female victim was transported to the local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Another male who was not shot but was injured in the crash was also taken to the hospital. He has been listed as in serious condition.
No names have been provided at this point. The police are still investigating exactly what caused the crash. They aren’t sure if the gunshots and the crash were intertwined but they believe they were. They are still looking to see who exactly was involved in the shooting. No gun or shell casings were found – at least not yet.
The police said that this isn’t the first shooting they’ve dealt with in the city this year. In fact, they said they weren’t surprised when they heard the multiple gunshots. The witnesses have not clarified yet what happened. Did the shooting actually cause the accident? Or, was someone injured in the shooting and then crash their car? This is not yet clear. The investigation is ongoing, however.
The next of kin have not yet been notified so no names will be released at this time. They have not named a gunshot suspect yet either.
Once the police have a chance to piece together exactly what happened we expect more details. In the meantime, if you or your loved one hurt or killed in any sort of motor vehicle accident, you should call our Indian right away.
